Excellent training roller ski with near like snow feel.
Fred Dunaway, November 14, 2010
I got these to transition to snow and wanted something with a realistic feel and they do have an excellent feel to them.
The choice of going with the slow version was a good one for me because it really forces a quality work out. You can't just sit back and cruse on these unless you have all day to it. Expect fast walk to slow run speeds on these. On minor down hills, they don't hit OMG type speeds.
They flex and track very much like a quality ski on snow. If you don't land these flat, they will wander side to side, just like a real ski does.
On the down side, they kick like a soft, low end waxless ski. Late kicks and poor weight transfer are rewarded with thrust. (I haven't found a roller ski that didn't have this problem.) However, given the slow wheels, it is quite obvious when you nail your technique as the speed increase is very noticeable.
If you use these in wet, slightly muddy areas (farmers entering/leaving their fields), put the fenders on. Otherwise, the spray gets into the bindings and can create quite a mess.
