Alge has a winner with the PR1a photocell series.

They're versatile - each unit can function as a reflex cell (reflector style), or a transmitter, or a receiver.

They're easy to aim - very simple to use, very few controls. They have thoughtful details - integrated slide-out sun shade, and the top of the housing is rounded so snow doesn't collect.

They have simple power requirements - a pair of AA batteries, and there is no tiny screw to remove when changing the batteries.

They're compact - and lighter than their competitors. They're powerful - finish lines and intermediate time shots of 80m are achievable and reliable.

They're accurate - fully homologated for FIS events, the highest timing standard in sports. Sync cable is available for use in pairs at a FIS finish line.
